12:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Centre for Experimental Archaeology and Materials Culture

Don’t miss a visit to the Centre for Experimental Archaeology and Materials Culture, where we will have a range of specialists from the UCD School of Archaeology talking to visitors about their area of expertise with the aid of demonstrations, guided handling of ancient artefacts (man-made objects) and other sample material (human and animal bone, ancient seeds and insects). Interactive demonstrations will include all types of spinning, weaving, and crafting.

Festival attendees will get the chance to try out our medieval pole lathe, wool working tools, and look at and identify ancient seeds and bugs through our on-site microscopes.

Visitors can step inside our medieval house to experience the past on a daily level. See where people lived in medieval Ireland and how they carried out their everyday lives, experience first-hand the hardships of the past while realising the ease of modern living.

We are very proud to say that our experience is both sensory friendly and neuro-inclusive. We invite visitors of all ages to engage with us in this fun, innovative and active learning experience.
