Sensory Friendly Spaces

The UCD Festival wants to be a safe and happy place for everyone to enjoy. However, the size of the campus and the large numbers attending alongside the activities can be overwhelming for some.

There are a few sensory friendly and quiet spaces located across campus at the festival, and these will be denoted on the festival map by the headset symbol across the Zones. They are in the below locations on the map:

  • Student Centre Atrium
  • Tierney Building
  • Upper Lake
  • Contemplative Garden between Veterinary and Computer Science buildings
  • UCD University Club
  • UCD James Joyce Library Hub 2 (quiet space only)

The aim of each space will be to provide a safe, low-level stimulation space for neurodivergent festival goers, created by using adjustable lighting, textures, and sounds. The space will be managed by volunteers who are passionate about the importance of calm spaces in busy, and vibrant environments.
