Hands-On Chemistry

10/6/18 NO REPRO FEES - In excess of 15,000 people descended on the UCD campus, on Saturday, 9th June as temperatures soared for the third annual UCD Festival, fast becoming one of the country’s most popular fixtures on the summer family festival calendar. PICTURED IS Annabel Purdy from Delvin, County Westmeath experimenting with liquid Nitrogen.Festival goers were invited to open their minds and let loose their imaginations as they explored a taste of the innovation, creativity and research that takes place on UCD campus every day. Attendees were greeted with a jam-packed schedule of fun and interactive events, with six festival zones and over 100 free events to enjoy. The huge numbers on campus immersed themselves in a day of hands-on fun and discovery. Festival goers got to experience UCD’s Folklore Collection, jumped into the Family Fun zone, found out more about diverse views and life experiences with talks and debates and got a little closer to the latest advances in Science, Engineering, Innovation and Technology. UCD Innovation Academy’s MakerSpace Technology Showcase

Xxx at the UCD festival. Over 20,000 people took a fully immersive step inside the world of UCD, on Saturday, 10 June for the eighth annual UCD Festival. The event has become one of the country’s most popular fixtures on the summer family festival calendar. Festival goers were invited to jump in and explore the innovation, creativity, and research that takes place on the UCD campus every day with a jam-packed schedule of fun and interactive events, across the eight festival zones. Attendees got to chat with Pepper (the humanoid robot in residence), play with the latest technology gadgets, and learn something new at the various workshops. Special guests included, Roddy Doyle, Emilie Pine, Dónal Lunny, Elaine Feeney, Karl Geary, Disha Bose, and literary curator, Rick O’Shea. The festival will close tonight with a spectacular concert featuring American jazz and blues legends from The Delta Blues Project in collaboration with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra.
