Michael Byrne (affectionately known as “Old Man Belfield”) was a beloved member of the UCD community, and his presence on campus for more than 30 years greatly impacted generations of UCD staff, students and local residents. Michael chose to make UCD his home and, in doing so, became a wonderful part of the fabric of the Belfield campus.

To celebrate Michael’s life and the deep affection held for him by the UCD Community, for the second year, the UCD Michael Byrne Mile is being held in his home of UCD. The event will allow the UCD community to come together to remember Michael in his home of UCD and to support UCD Cothrom na Féinne Scholarships in Michael’s memory.

Join us for a mile run/walk on the UCD running track between 12 pm and 2 pm in memory of Michael. There will be an official mile run/walk on the track kicking off on the half hour at the following times – 12 pm, 12.30 pm, 1 pm and 1.30 pm. Don’t forget to book your place using the link below.
